How you might start backlinking and getting your hubs and blogs linked to other sites
74What is Backlinking?
Backlinking is creating links back to your hubs or webpages from other websites. This allows people on those sites to click on your links and go to visit your hubs/sites. More importantly however the more high quality backlinks that you have, the better your hub will rank in searches from search engines like Google, Yahoo etc and therefore the more visits you can expect to your hubs or web pages. You can get more details on this from other people's hubs on here.
I am a relative newcomer to hubpages having only been on a couple of months, so I do not profess to be expert at all, however I was seeking a way to easily visit high ranking sites that allow you to put backlinks on, to simplify and speed up the backlinking process. I decided therefore to create a web page with links to some of the websites I use to serve as a starting point each time I go to add links. I also thought by turning it into a hub, others could use this to help them create backlinks for their hubs. Feel free to use it as much as you like, as I discover new links I will edit this hub to add them in. Most are social bookmarking sites or other link sharing sites which you have to register with before you can post links.
In creating this list, I have relied heavily on other hubbers. I've tried to link (at the bottom of this page) to their hubs. Special mention should go to Ryan Kett and his hubs on backlinks with high page ranks (links to those hubs below).
I am not advocating using all sites all of the time, particularly sites such as digg.com where you might annoy other users with over-posting, you may decide to pick and choose depending on each individual hub. It is entirely up to you (obviously).
I have included the pagerank (PR) for each site, to give you an indication of how highly thought of it as by google. I have also set each link to open in a new window so you don't have to keep navigating back to this page to go to the next site.
The Backlinks
http://www.mylinkvault.com (PR5) - A personal/social bookmarking service. You have to select the option to make your links public to be counted as a backlink.
http://www.buddymarks.com (PR5) - Another social bookmarking site.
http://www.folkd.com (PR6) - Yet another social bookmarking site.
http://blinklist.com (PR7) - Yes, you guessed it!
http://digg.com (PR8) - This is more of a social network for news and interesting webpages, rather than a personal bookmarking service. Don't overdo posting links, or you may get banned.
http://shetoldme.com (PR5) - Share your links and write a bit about the link you are posting. This is an adsense revenue sharing site (similar to the way hubpages shares adsense revenue) so you could make some money too.
http://www.xomba.com (PR4) - An article & social bookmarking site with an adsense revenue sharing programme. You must write a minimum of 50 words description about your link.
http://www.redgage.com (PR3) - Another adsense revenue sharing, content sharing site.
http://www.bukisa.com (PR5) - Another adsense revenue sharing & content sharing site
http://excerptz.com (not yet ranked) - This is a new social bookmarking site with revenue sharing programme from hubpages own Ryan Kett. Still in its infancy so you can get in early.
http://www.imautomator.com (N/A) - This is a tool for automatically submitting your hubs/webpages to lots of different websites, social bookmarking sites etc. Thanks to Alison Graham for details on this. There's a paid for version, but the free version seems good too.
http://posterous.com (PR8) - Don't know if this is a dofollow or not, but regardless it looks a great resource. The idea is you can create content just by sending an email in from your registered email address. You can get it to automatically update blogs, twitter etc.
Suggest new links for backlinking
Please, please do feel free to suggest other backlinking sites, and once I've checked them out I'll add them on to the list above so that everyone can benefit. Any other comments or suggestions are really welcome - as I've suggested I'm really just a newbie at this. For good backlinking advice, see some of the other excellent hubs written on this subject by much more experienced hubbers (links to some below). If you've written a good hub about backlinking, let me know and will add to the links below.

My problem with all these lists is that one has to be a member of those sites and spend time there. I don't want to do that. Also, search engines aren't stupid. They recognize when one is sending links to oneself...
